Okay, there're only five hours left of February for me and it's become painfully apparent that I will not be able to publish Heller's Punishment today. Even if I did an all-nighter, which I can't because I have to work tomorrow, I still wouldn't make it. I set myself a stretch target of one month to get the book out, and as Maxwell Smart would say, "Missed it by that much." I might have made it if February had 31 days. I might have made it if I didn't have to work, sleep, cook, eat, wash, shop, ferry the child around, hold civilised interactions with the significant others in my life, etc etc. Real life is relentlessly demanding!
I need a few more days to do the cover and final proofread, but expect to have it available at Smashwords in time for the weekend. My apologies for anyone waiting for it. Your patience is appreciated.
:-) JD
No biggie...as long as we get to read it soon...really soon :) ...we can wait for weekend! I've been checking back faithfully every single day. You rock Girl!
ReplyDeleteOh gee, thanks Zaiga! I promise I'm trying to get it out as quickly as possible :-)
DeleteI can't wait either... I'm addicted to Heller and Tilly!!!!!! You really do ROCK..... I can't put it down!!
DeleteThanks Ursula. It's now available at Smashwords. The link is in my latest post :-)
DeleteI cant wait to read your next book. And when is the next book of the little town series going to be out?
ReplyDeleteHi! Gee, I'm a little hesitant to give dates for releases now, but I'm hoping to have the next Tessie book out by end of April, mid-May. JD :-)
Deletelove these books! can't wait for heller's punishment!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! That's very nice of you. I hope you enjoy it when it arrives :-)
DeleteWell, I thought almost the same you said here. I check your blog nearly every day, looking for something new about "Heller's Punishment"... (That title have me intrigued, :D ) An although knew you likely won't publish it in February, I keep coming back in hope you may have get it soon.
ReplyDeleteBut I told you this: don't hurry up.
We are addicts to your books and can't wait to read them, but if you rush and something go wrong (I doubt it) then we all will regret the impatience, ;)
Thanks Soñando! You're a sweetie :-)
DeleteLove your books! Am dying for the latest...but like all good things, it's worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Working hard on it :-)
DeleteWow! Love the Heller books! Satisfyingly long, too, although I'm watching with trepidation as I approach the end... Thanks for all you do!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading my books :-)
DeleteThe Heller series is the best set of books I've read in a very long time!! I finished all three books in only just one week. Keep up the awesome work! I cant wait until Heller's punishment is released. O well, I guess I'll just have to start on the Blood Ties series while I wait! :) :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! HP will be out in a couple of days, but Blood Ties is a good read too (not that I'm biased, lol!) :-)
DeleteJust found these books last weekend. I've read all 3 and can't wait for number 4. Love them!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynne! Won't be too long. Doing the cover today :-)
DeleteI am so SO excited for it to come out!! Can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Working on the cover right at this minute! :-)
DeleteLove your books a friend suggested them to me and i also read them in a week. So excited for the next! Thank you
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate! Hope you enjoy it when it's out (very soon). :-)
DeleteI love the heller series although I'm probably the only person who is happy Hellers punishment wasn't ready for the weekend. Only because I had an essay to write which wouldn't have happened if I had your new book! thanks for the delay : )
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Emma! You're just the person I needed to hear from right now as I finish a 17 hour day at the computer, after an 18 hour day yesterday :-)
DeleteOoooh. This would be why it isn't out yet... Ahaha. For the better part of the last two weeks, I've checked every day. Thanks for the heads up, so I can know when to expect it on my NOOK!
ReplyDeleteHi Janenea! HP is out at Smashwords, but will still take some time to make its way to B&N. You can download it from Smashwords directly to your Nook. I have the link in a later post. Below are their instructions. JD :-)
DeleteHow do I download books to the Barnes & Noble nook?
Barnes & Noble is an authorized Smashwords retailer, so over 40,000 of the books you see at Smashwords are also for sale at B&N. For the nook, just attach the nook to your personal computer via the USB cable (makes it appear as a hard drive), and then download your books directly to your nook's My Documents folder. B&N calls the process "sideloading." Here's a video on the process: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/nook/video.asp?bnit=H&bnrefer=EBOOKS&cds2Pid=30195#vid2
This is completely off topic, but I've always wondered, what do the J and D in your name stand for? I've come up with several possibilities when I get very bored. Ehehe. Or is it a pseudonym (sp?) you use when writing? Are there any other names you've published any books under?
DeleteHi Janenea! I would have loved to have heard your possibilities, but the boring truth is that JD doesn't really stand for anything. I write under a pseudonym for various reasons. JD Nixon was my great-grandmother's name and her name was Jessie, but I decided to be just plain old JD. But some facts about me: I'm female; I live in Queensland, Australia; I'm Sagittarius; my favourite TV show at the moment is My Kitchen Rules (an Aussie competitive cooking show); and obviously, I love to write :-)
DeleteHi, was wondering if you write under JC Phelps also. Seems similar to your writing/plot. Not as humorous but enjoyable non the less. Absolutely love both your series. Have never read about a woman getting such a physical beat down and coming out ahead ever in my life. Its pretty empowering. Love that shes strong. Love the continuity and flow of your books and the fresh story lines. Yours were the first ebooks I was happy to buy. Btw...when I finished the third, I started the series all over again. A first for me, its usually a year or longer to reread books I enjoyed. Props to you. Keep both series coming. Cant wait for Barnes and Noble to catch up.
ReplyDeletePs whats your approx target time for Blood Feud?
DeleteHey there!
DeleteNo, JC Phelps is not me, but now I will go look at him/her to see why you thought that, lol! I get a lot of flak about the violence in my books (especially the Tessie books) and I can respect people for objecting about women being beat up. But the horrible truth is that it happens to women every single second and I want to write about strong women who can fight back and give as good as they get. It doesn't seem that revolutionary to me :-)
And thank you very much for buying my books and rereading them - that's a real commitment of time, lol!
JD :-)
And as for BF - it's not going well - have lots of other stuff going on in my life. It might be delayed, but I think it will be compensated for by an enormous burst of writing that will create several books in a short period (fingers crossed!)
Delete9:50 pm California time...downloaded Hellers Punishment. Happiest day of my life (this week). The big question: Should I read it or just tease myself with your new book knowing I'm going to have to wait for BF or more Hellers??? What to do, what to do...

DeleteLol - just read it now! Life's too short to keep yourself waiting :-)
DeleteOk...waited 12 days to read it. Promised it to myself as a gift after getting good news and today was that day. You don't dissapoint JD. I snarfed your latest book down in 4 hours. Loved it. Love your imagination and I lol at some of the written antics. You have a loyal follower in me! Geri (anonymous CA)
DeleteHi Geri. Congrats on receiving some good news! That's always worth celebrating. Glad you enjoyed HP. Now just have to get Blood Feud out and then can start on Heller's Decision :-)
DeleteHey JD, great job on Blood Fued. I was pleasantly surprised to find your new book available a couple nights ago. Love your spin on this story. While its serious in nature, compelling and exciting, I find Fiona hilarious. I just love her irreverence. You are so talented, I really appreciate your writing. Thanks for the new read. Keep up the good work! Geri
ReplyDeleteHi Geri. Thanks! Glad you enjoyed BF. Fiona's one of my favourite characters - a lot of fun to write dialogue for :-)
