Below are some links to posts about writing I have on my website:
Tilly and Tess is the blog of Australian author JD Nixon. It's named after the main characters in her two series: Tilly Chalmers (Heller series) and Tess Fuller (Little Town series).

My inaugural post!
Let me begin by introducing myself. I live in Queensland in Australia and I recently published two free ebooks via Smashwords, Heller and Blood Ties.
I've been writing for about two years now, and only really started because I wanted something creative to do in my spare time. I wrote primarily for my own amusement, with the vague wistful thought in the back of my mind about how great it would be if my books were published one day. The chances of that were remote in Australia though, which is a very small publishing market. Basically, if you aren't already a proven author, aren't someone famous or don't have an agent (a group of people who only seem interested in taking on proven authors!), there's little hope for you. And with the exception of Allen & Unwin's Friday Pitch, most publishers here won't accept unsolicited manuscripts.
So when I discovered Smashwords, the prospect of actually being able to publish became terrifyingly and exhilaratingly real. I dithered for months, trying to convince myself that the world wasn't going to point and laugh at me if I did put my books up for public scrutiny, and so what if they did? At least I gave it a good old Aussie try! There'll be no deathbed regrets for me, one way or the other!
